UK Introduces New Support Measures for Scale-Up…

The UK government has introduced a new package of measures designed to support the country's fastest-growing businesses, with a particular focus on clean energy, life sciences, and digital and technology sectors. Announced jointly by the Department for Business and Trade and HM Treasury, the package includes a dedicated concierge service offering high-growth firms a single, joined-up route to government support, cutting through the usual maze of separate schemes.

The most significant development for employers is a new Visa Fees Reimbursement Scheme for Scale-Ups, which allows eligible businesses to recover visa costs incurred when hiring international talent. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to a fixed budget, so timing matters for firms hoping to benefit.

Eligibility, however, is closely defined. Businesses must meet specific growth thresholds, operate in a priority sector, hold a valid UK sponsor licence, and recruit through an eligible immigration route, among other conditions. A fast-track referral for the UK Expansion Worker sponsor licence has also been introduced, helping high-potential international businesses establish a UK presence more quickly.

For sponsor licence holders, the message is clear: this is a genuine opportunity, but one that rewards firms with strong, audit-ready compliance foundations already in place.

Curious whether your business qualifies for the new Visa Fees Reimbursement Scheme? Read the full breakdown.
